Baron Arthur Grumiaux
Arthur Grumiaux (1921 - 1986), a celebrated violin virtuoso of the Franco-Belgian school of the 20th century, distinguished himself through his exceptional performances of violin concertos and his work with the Grumiaux Trio. Born in 1921 in Villers-Perwin, Belgium, he began studying violin and piano at a very young age, earning numerous prestigious awards throughout his career. His recordings for Philips, featuring works by Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, and other composers, remain memorable. His collaboration with Clara Haskil was a source of musical joy until her death in 1960. Despite health issues, Grumiaux continued to captivate audiences until his passing in 1986, leaving behind a legacy of powerful and elegant musicianship.
